BYU University Chorale presents "Evening Song" June 4 at Provo Tabernacle

The Brigham Young University Spring Chorale will present "Evening Song" Friday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle on the corner of University Avenue and 100 S. in Provo.

The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

The choir will sing sacred music from Georg Telemann, Gabriel Faure and other composers.

Due to the nature of the music, the concert will be more of a worship event the audience can appreciate, said Rosalind Hall, assistant professor in the BYU School of Music and chorale conductor.

"The Provo Tabernacle is a lovely concert setting and the audience will enjoy the atmosphere of the tabernacle," Hall said.

"Laudate Jehovam, omnes gentes" by Telemann, is a baroque piece with four sections singing about the praise and love of the Lord.

"Messe Basse" by Faure was originally written for a women's choir Faure conducted. The Swedish composer Anders Öhrwall rearranged the piece to be sung by a full choir.

The chorale is comprised of 140 men and women and is the only choir operating during spring and summer terms at BYU. The non-audition choir includes members of BYU's regular audition choirs.

Jill Winters and Timothy Workman will assist Hall as assistant conductors and Alena Hicken and Chad Jenks will play the organ.

For more information, call Rosalind Hall at (801) 422-2272.
