BYU Television to air "Berlin" Sept. 6

BYU Television will air "Berlin: An Original Musical" by Erik Orton, which was staged and filmed last season by the Brigham Young University Department of Theatre and Media Arts, on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 9 p.m.

Those who do not have access to BYU Television can watch the performance online at www.byutv.org/streaming. For information about rebroadcast dates and times, visit www.byub.org.

Set in post-World War II, "Berlin" is a musical written and composed by Orton, a Broadway producer and BYU alumnus. BYU’s Theatre and Media Arts Department, in conjunction with BYU Television, united the efforts of students, faculty and staff in presenting this dynamic and emotional story, according to Daniel Hubbard, BYU Television marketing and development manager.

Orton’s musical depicts not only the fall of Berlin and the struggle of Berliners — a people who are sick of war and longing for freedom — but also the efforts that the United States, Great Britain and France made to alleviate those struggles.

"Berlin" is part of BYU Television’s In Performance series, which aims to bring viewers the very best dance, music, singing and performance programs that entertain, uplift and inspire. Many of those productions feature BYU performances.
