BYU Symphony Orchestra to perform Nutcracker Suite Dec. 1

The Brigham Young University Symphony Orchestra will be performing Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 422-4322, or online at byuarts.com. Tickets cost $6.

The orchestra will begin the concert by performing Morton Gould’s “Spirituals for Orchestra.” They will also play Tchaikovsky’s Suite from “The Nutcracker” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas. The orchestra will also be presenting the premiere of “Leaving White” written by BYU alumnus Ben Taylor.

The orchestra is comprised of 85 musicians from the School of Music conducted by BYU’s Eric Hansen. Even though they perform music from every period, they emphasize music from the Classical period.
