BYU Symphony Orchestra to perform Feb. 23

Brigham Young University’s Symphony Orchestra will appear in concert Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. Tickets are on sale at byuarts.com/tickets or at (801) 422-4322 for $6.

Conducted by associate professor of music Eric Hansen, the concert will feature six classical compositions, including the Piano Concerto No. 18, K. 546, by Mozart; “Dance of the Hours” by Ponchielli; Peer Gynt, Suite No. 1, by Grieg; and the Cappriccio Espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov.

The Symphony Orchestra is the preparatory orchestra in the School of Music. The group plays approximately two concerts each semester devoted to symphonic literature. The symphony also shares the responsibilities of collaborating with the ensemble concerts presented in the school, as well as performing regularly with musical theater productions. With concert repertoire chosen from every period, an emphasis is given on the classical period that provides the foundation of all symphonic playing.

Contact Eric Hansen at (801) 422-4135 or h_eric_hansen@byu.edu for more information about the concert. Visit cfac-old.byu.edu/index.php?id=287 to learn more about BYU’s orchestral programs.
