BYU student wins national minority student scholarship

From National Association of School Psychologists

Kaitie Dyson, a graduate student in the Brigham Young University David O. McKay School of Education, recently earned a National Association of School Psychologists Minority Student Scholarship for 2007.

Dyson, who was adopted from Korea as an infant and raised in Southern California and Texas, plans to use the $5,000 scholarship to further her work with minority students. She hopes to use her education and experience to counsel ethnically diverse students who may be struggling in school.

She is the second BYU student to receive the national honor.

The National Association of School Psychologists annually awards five scholarships to help minority students continue their education and, eventually, join the profession. The association works to support and promote school psychology to enhance the mental health and educational competence of students.
