BYU Singers to present "A Tapestry of American Song" Feb. 17

The Brigham Young University School of Music will present the BYU Singers in concert on Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $10 for the general public, $9 for alumni and seniors and $6 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at BYUarts.com/tickets, or they can be purchased through the Fine Arts Ticket Office (801) 422-4322.

The program, conducted by Ron Staheli, will have the theme “A Tapestry of American Song.”

The program consists of music chosen from the Singers' repertoire, including American anthems, songs from the Spanish Renaissance and compositions based on African-American spirituals.

The BYU Singers will also perform pieces from noteworthy 18th and 19th century composers, such as Williams Billings and George Whitefield Chadwick, as well as pieces from modern composers Eric Whitacre and Ola Gjeilo.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
