BYU services list holiday hours

Several services and offices on the Brigham Young University campus will have special holiday hours during the month of December.

The Harold B. Lee Library will stay open until 2 a.m., Monday through Friday, until Dec. 18. All services, excluding the Learning Resource Center and all computer labs except for computer lab 2260, will be available. Lab 2260 will be open until 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday and will close at midnight on Friday. All library services close at midnight on Saturday, Dec. 13.

On Friday, Dec. 19, the library will close at 6 p.m. From Dec. 20 to 23, the library will open at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. with limited services all day Saturday, Dec. 20. On Dec. 24, the library will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. It will be closed Dec. 25 through Dec. 27. From Dec. 29 to Dec. 30, library hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Dec. 31, library hours will be 8 a.m. to noon. The library will be closed from Jan. 1 to Jan. 3, 2004.

The BYU Bookstore will have regular hours except on Dec. 13 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Beginning Dec. 16 through 19, the bookstore will open at 7:50 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. On Dec. 20, the bookstore will open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. On Dec. 22 and 23, it will be open from 7:50 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Dec. 24, bookstore hours will be 7:50 a.m. to 4 p.m. The bookstore will be closed Dec. 25 through Dec. 27. It will re-open Dec. 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2004.

The Wilkinson Student Center will have regular hours except on Dec. 24, when it may close early depending on the number of students using the building. It will be closed Dec. 25 and Dec. 31.

Campus Craft and Floral will be open until 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and will be closed from Dec. 25 to Dec. 28. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 and will close from Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, 2004.

The Games Center will be open at noon during finals week and will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2004. It will close at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31.

The Smith Fieldhouse will be open Dec. 20 through 23, Dec. 26 through 30 and Jan. 2 through 3, 2004, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 31 and Jan 1, 2004.

The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 26. It will be closed Dec. 25.

The BYU Earth Science Museum will be closed Dec. 20 through Jan. 2, 2004.

The BYU Visitors Center will offer campus tours Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1 and 2, 2004.

400 million voting records show persistent gaps in voter turnout by race, age, and political affiliation

A new study from BYU and the University of Virginia analyzed 400 million voter records from elections in 2014 and 2016 and found that minority citizens, young people, and those who support the Democratic Party are much less likely to vote than whites, older citizens, and Republican Party supporters. Moreover, those in the former groups are also more likely to live in areas where their neighbors are less likely to vote.
