BYU School of Music vocalists to present opera scenes Feb. 23-26

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents a night of opera scenes featuring students from the BYU Opera Department Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 23-26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free.

Operas featured in the program include "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Beatrice et Benedict," "Romeo et Juliette," "Falstaff," "Kiss Me Kate" and "Otello."

Not only are performers required to master the difficult pieces from the selected operas, but they are also required to act and stage the scene.

The scenes program is the "chamber ensemble" of the Opera Department. A select group of voices perform duets, trios, quartets and chorus works from ancient to contemporary opera. Final examination is the performance of each scene before an audience.
