BYU School of Music offers free concerts April 1-5

Several free-admission music events will be featured April 1-5 in the Madsen Recital Hall, de Jong Concert Hall and Museum of Art Auditorium at Brigham Young University.

On April 1 at 7:30 p.m., the Madsen Recital Hall will be host to a "Woodwind Chamber Night."

The BYU Flute Choir will present an evening of flute music April 2 in the Madsen Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.

The University Orchestra and University Strings will present a chamber concert highlighting music they have learned throughout the semester in the de Jong Concert

Hall at 7:30 p.m. on April 2.

The University String Chamber Group will perform an evening of chamber music on April 3 at 9:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The BYU Symphonic Band, under the direction of Don Peterson, will perform April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

The BYU "Brass Saxophone Chamber Night" will be April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. They will feature favorites such as Henry Mancini's "The Pink Panther" and Rossini's "William Tell Overture."

On April 5, guest clarinet artist Marian Liebowitz will perform in concert at 4:30 p.m. in the Museum of Art Auditorium. She will be accompanied by Richard Thompson on the piano.

BYU team helps create diagnostic tool that achieves accuracy of PCR tests with faster, simpler nanopore system

A new diagnostic tool developed by Brigham Young University and UC Santa Cruz researchers can test for SARS-CoV-2 and Zika virus with the same or better accuracy as high-precision PCR tests in a matter of hours.
