BYU School of Music hosts popular Music Dance Theatre Showcase Feb. 26-27

Brigham Young University’s Broadway-caliber musical theatre students will take the stage for the Music Dance Theatre Showcase Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27, at 7 and 9 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

Tickets are $11, or $8 with BYU or student ID, and may be purchased online at www.byuarts.com, by phone at (801) 422-4322 or in person at the Harris Fine Arts Center Ticket Office. All proceeds support the Music Dance Theatre scholarship program. The event typically sells out, so organizers encourage patrons to purchase tickets soon.

This year's show, titled "Don't Stop Believing," will open with the version of that song popularized by the hit television show "Glee," according to director Bailee Brinker. The production typically includes a wealth of musical theatre numbers, ranging from golden-age classics to contemporary show. The classics will include works by Andrew Lloyd Webber, while the contemporary numbers will feature songs from current Broadway shows like "Mary Poppins" and "Legally Blonde."

"We'll also feature some pop standards and jazzy numbers," said Brinker, who promised "a really big variety show, with a lot of styles of musical theater and dance. There's certainly something for everyone."

For more information, contact Bailee Brinker at (480) 586-5861.
