BYU Religious Studies Center releases new book, "Celebrating Easter"

Collection of essays from 2006 BYU Easter Conference

Just in time for Brigham Young University’s 2007 Easter Conference on April 7, the Religious Studies Center has released “Celebrating Easter: The 2006 BYU Easter Conference,” a collection of essays from last year’s event.

The book’s topics include studies on how members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints celebrate and teach about Easter and the technical aspects of the Jewish antagonists’ approach to the miracles of Jesus Christ.

Edited by Thomas A. Wayment and Keith J. Wilson, contributors to the book include BYU President Cecil O. Samuelson, academic vice president John S. Tanner and Terry B. Ball, dean of Religious Education.

This year’s annual BYU Easter Conference, titled “Behold the Lamb of God,” will take place Saturday, April 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium. Admission will be free, and the public is welcome.

The Religious Studies Center crafted the book to focus on the triumph of the Easter story and the importance of the Savior’s atonement and resurrection.

“It is safe to say without equivocation that the Resurrection of Christ, which signaled to all humankind that the Atonement was complete, is the most important event in the salvation of men and women and the cosmos itself,” wrote Wayment and Richard Neitzel Holzapfel of Religious Education in the book’s foreward.

The book will be available at the BYU Bookstore and other LDS bookstores.

For more information, contact Thomas A. Wayment at (801) 422-6401.
