BYU public relations students honored at national convention

The Brigham Young University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America won the Outstanding Newsletter Teahan Award during the recent PRSSA national conference in San Francisco.

A total of 12 awards are available for chapters to apply for each year, and BYU has won a Teahan award the last three years.

Chapter member Chris Scheitinger also won the John D. Graham Scholarship awarded to one student who exhibits academic achievement in public relations, demonstrates leadership and has completed practical experience in internships.

While at the conference, the chapter’s leadership presented a chapter development session on the importance of PRSSA regional conferences.

Chapter member Steven Tew also participated in a panel presentation about student-run firms and discussed BYU’s successful Bradley Public Relations Agency.

More than 20 BYU PRSSA chapter members were able to attend this year’s national conference along with two of their public relations professors.

The conference provided opportunities for networking with peers and professionals, learning more about the public relations industry and succeeding in the public relations field.
