BYU plans activities for National Student Employment Week April 5-9

Nominations now accepted for BYU Student Employee of the Year

National Student Employment Week is April 5-9, and Brigham Young University will be celebrating in style.

Each year, during this week, colleges and universities around the country recognize the importance of student work experience. BYU Student Employment will be hosting activities, prizes, awards, drawings and games in the Wilkinson Student Center Terrace throughout the week. It is recommended that other departments recognize their student employees.

On April 5, BYU will announce the BYU Student Employee of the Year along with the runners up. Each department can submit names by e-mailing to kathleen_christensen@byu.edu, faxing to (801) 422-0640 or mailing to the Student Employment office in 2024 WSC. Nominees will also be accepted online at www.byu.edu/hr/managers/nominations/student-employee-year.

“Each department has many qualified and exceptional student employees,” said Kathleen Christensen of BYU Student Employment, “and this is a wonderful chance for them to be recognized for their efforts. The student selected will be nominated for the state and regional competition. BYU has more than 13,000 student employees that make this university run. They are going to school, doing homework and working all at the same time.”

The university will honor all nominees with a certificate of appreciation, and the nominating departments are encouraged to take an appropriate opportunity to recognize all their student employees as well as their nominated students.

To be eligible, the nominee must be a current BYU student employee who has completed, or will expect to complete, at least six months part-time or three months full-time employment between June 1, 2009, and May 31, 2010.

For more information, contact Kathleen Christensen at (801) 422-8905.
