BYU Philharmonic, soloists to be featured at Evening of Concertos March 2

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents an Evening of Concertos Tuesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

For ticket informaton, call 378-4322.

The program, conducted by Kory Katseanes, will include music by Dimitri Shostakovich, Eric Ewazen, Max Bruch, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Pablo de Sarasate and Jacques Ibert.

Seven students from the School of Music will perform the individual concertos. The students have been selected by individual instrumental teachers to represent the cello, trombone, violin, piano and saxophone.

“This concert is popular because it’s a showcase for the students of the School of Music,” Katseanes said. “These students really do represent some of the finest performers the school has in a given year. They are each virtuosos in their given instruments, and every piece is a showstopper.”

Participating students include Andrew Clement, Dan Barrett, Ben Chan, Jonathan Bowman, Robert Landes, Megan Fisher and Willem van Schalkwyk.

For more information on the Evening of Concertos, contact Kory Katseanes at (801) 422-3331.
