BYU Philharmonic plans world premiere Nov. 17

The Brigham Young University Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kory Katseanes will perform Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $10 for the public, $9 for alumni and senior citizens, and $6 for students. They are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 422-4322, byuarts.com/tickets.

The concert will premiere an original composition by BYU faculty member Neil Thornock, “When the Trumpets Sound,” which was commissioned by the Don and Shirley Oscarson Foundation. The other pieces include Peer Gynt Suite, No.1 by Grieg and the Symphony No. 5 by Sibelius.

The Philharmonic features nearly 100 of the university's top student instrumentalists who regularly perform a wide and demanding repertoire.
