BYU Phi Kappa Phi chapter solicits entries for research competition, graduate fellowships

The Brigham Young University chapter of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is soliciting entries for a research paper competition and graduate fellowships for BYU undergraduates and graduates.

Research papers written during 2006 will be recognized in each undergraduate class level. Entries must have been written in conjunction with a regular class, and honors theses, papers that have been published and papers with multiple authors are not eligible. Each paper must be nominated by the professor for whom it was written.

The deadline for this contest has been extended; contact Susanne Davis at (801) 422-5013 for details. Authors of the first- and second-place papers will be honored at the Phi Eta Sigma banquet on March 29.

Since 1932, the Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship Program has awarded 60 fellowships of $5,000 each and 40 Awards of Excellence of $2,000 each for graduate students. Winners of the honors represent many fields, including biology, engineering, humanities, mathematics and psychology, among others. Each department may submit one candidate by Feb. 1.

Entry criteria and submission information for both contests are available online at byu.edu/phikappaphi.

The National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi seeks to recognize and support excellence in all academic disciplines. The society honors those who have contributed to their fields and encouraged others to strive for quality scholarship.
