BYU offers free music events Nov. 19-23

Several free-admission music events will be featured Nov. 19-23 in the Madsen Recital Hall and the de Jong Concert Hall at Brigham Young University.

BYU School of Music faculty member Lawrence Green will present a guitar recital Tuesday (Nov. 19) at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The BYU Symphonic Band under the direction of Don Peterson will perform Tuesday (Nov. 19) at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Student instrumentalists from the BYU School of Music will present an evening of string chamber music Wednesday (Nov. 20) at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The BYU Symphony Orchestra with conductor Eric Hansen will perform Dec. 3 (rescheduled from Nov. 23) at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Finally, the BYU Jazz Ensemble will perform Saturday (Nov. 23) at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
