BYU to offer preschool music classes this fall semester

The Brigham Young University School of Music Early Childhood Music Program is accepting applications for the 2005-2006 school year. Three classes will be offered and will meet on Saturday mornings for one hour each from September 2005 to April 2006.

Classes begin Sept. 10 and include 24 class periods.

  • Children are eligible for the Parent-Toddler class if they are 18 months old by Sept. 1, 2005.

  • Children are eligible for the Music Explorers class if they are 3 years old by Sept. 1, 2005, or if they have previously taken the Parent-Toddler Class.

  • Children are eligible for the Music Makers class if they are 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2005, and not older than 5 years by Sept 1, 2005, or if they have taken a previous BYU Music in Early Childhood Class. Tuition is $250 per child for the year. Applications are available through the BYU School of Music Web site: cfac.byu.edu/music/Music_and_the_Family/EarlyChildhood.php.

    Applications are also available in C550 Harris Fine Arts Center. Class size is limited and early registration is suggested.

    BYU’s world-class pipe organ is the ‘crown jewel’ of the new Concert Hall

    If you haven’t experienced the pipe organ in the BYU Music Building yet, you’re in for a treat. With 4,613 pipes and 81 ranks (sets of pipes), it’s the third largest organ in Utah and the only one with two consoles. Organists can play from a console located in the center of the pipework facade or from a movable stage console.
