BYU Museum of Peoples, Cultures hosts mystery date night Oct. 24-25

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, at 6 p.m., Brigham Young University’s Museum of Peoples and Cultures will host a mystery date night where couples will team up to solve “The Disappearance of the Horned Toad.”

Participants will become character personalities and work as detectives to discover who stole a valuable artifact from the museum’s exhibition. Identity profiles will be assigned to each individual when they purchase tickets and will include a brief history of their character’s background along with a costume description.

The date night will begin with a tour of the “crime scene” where the artifact was stolen. The mystery will then unfold over dinner.

Heidi Kartchner, a senior at BYU, attended the mystery dinner the during summer term. “The MPC set up an opportunity for couples to show their creative sides,” Kartchner said. “I’ve never laughed as hard as I did that night. It’s a really fun date night.”

“The combination of theatrics, mystery and, of course, dinner really helps make it a huge success,” said Erika Riggs, promotions manager for the museum. “Tickets always sell out quickly because this is such a unique date night.”

Tickets for the date night are $24 per couple and are available at the Wilkinson Student Center Information Desk. For more information, visit mpc.byu.edu or call (801) 422-0020.
