BYU Museum of Peoples and Cultures seeking docents

Brigham Young University’s Museum of Peoples and Cultures is seeking individuals to serve as volunteer docents at the museum.

Museum of Peoples and Cultures docents lead tours, conduct programs, help with special events and represent the museum to the public. Anyone with an interest in anthropology or archaeology is strongly encouraged to participate, andprevious experience in those fields is not required.

"All you need is a healthy curiosity and a willingness to learn about peoples and cultures, and then share what you learn," said Kari Nelson, curator of education, who will conduct the program.

A docent-training course, funded in part by the Utah Humanities Council, will be conducted Wednesdays during March. After training, it is expected that each docent will commit to serve in the museum a few hours each month for approximately 18 months.

For more information, contact Kari Nelson at (801) 422-0022, or visit mpc.byu.edu.
