BYU moves to YJobs employee recruitment process

For non-student positions

BYU is moving its nonstudent employee recruitment process to a Web-based system called YJobs. For the convenience of the campus community, YJobs will be implemented gradually over the next several months.

YJobs mirrors the current paper process and will follow the same policies and procedures. YJobs will have a positive impact on the employee recruitment process due to ease of use and access.

When completely implemented, YJobs will allow a paperless application process for both the departments and the applicants. Applicants can access the system at http://yjobs.byu.edu.

The applicant portion of YJobs has been implemented and applicants are currently using the system to apply for jobs online. Detailed instructions have been provided to assist applicants in using YJobs.

University departments are being trained to use the Web-based system as they have a need to hire new personnel. Several departments have been trained and are currently using the system. General training sessions will be held in the coming weeks for those who would like to learn the system before the need to post a job arises.

YJobs will reduce paperwork, eliminate the need for typewriters, speed up the hiring process and allow the departments to see applications earlier, all from their own computers.

Hiring managers will be able to create and manage position vacancy forms as well as distribute applications electronically to the interviewing panel.

Applicants will be able to apply at their convenience, 24 hours a day, from any computer with Internet access. In addition, candidates will be able to view changes in their status in the job search process. Computers with Internet access will be available in the Staff Administrative Employment Office.

Applicants will also be able to access YJobs using computers at the Department of Workforce Services, public libraries and the Harold B. Lee Library general reference section.
