BYU Men's, Women's Choruses plan joint concerts Nov. 7-8

Celebrates new CD releases by Women's Chorus

The Brigham Young University Men’s and Women’s Choruses will perform Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7-8, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, accompanying the release of the new Women’s Chorus album, “My God is a Rock: Hymns and Spirituals.”

Tickets are available at $10 for the general public, $9 for senior citizens and alumni, and $6 for students and BYU employees through the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 422-2981, or at byuarts.com/tickets.

The Women’s Chorus, conducted by Jean Applonie, will perform “My God is a Rock,” a traditional spiritual arranged by Daniel Kallman; “Behold the Wounds in Jesus’ Hands” by David Naylor; “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need,” an American folk hymn arranged by Mack Wilberg; and several other works.

Among other songs, the Men’s Chorus, conducted by Rosalind Hall, will perform “O Sing to the Lord” by Dan Davison, “The Iron Rod” by William Clayton and “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.

The concerts are serving as release concerts for Women’s Choruses album, “My God is a Rock: Hymns and Spirituals” and will feature performances from the album, which will be released Tuesday, Nov. 5.
