BYU memorial service Feb. 22 to honor fallen U.S. Army aviator

Brigham Young University's Department of Military Science and BYU ROTC will be holding a memorial service Friday, Feb. 22, for Capt. Scott Pace, a former BYU student who commissioned into the U.S. Army as an aviator.

Pace attended several semesters at BYU before transferring to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he obtained his degree and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. This past June, Capt. Pace was killed in action in Afghanistan.

He and his family will be honored at 11 a.m. in the Varsity Theater in the Wilkinson Student Center.  Elder Lance Wickman, a General Authority Emeritus of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an Army veteran from the Vietnam War, will be the guest speaker.

Immediately following the service,  the company will move to the WSC Memorial Hall to unveil his name plate that will be added to the Wall of Heroes.
