BYU hosts "Young Artist of Voice" competition Feb. 15, 17 and 19

Some of Brigham Young University's best singers will compete for the "Singer of the Year" title in the School of Music's Young Artists of Voice Competition Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, Feb. 15, 17 and 19, in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The competition starts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Saturday and at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Admission is free.

Approximately 25 students will participate in the first round and only 10 will go on to the second round to compete with 10 pre-selected artists. Ten students will be selected from the second round to compete in the final round.

Judges for the first round include BYU professors Arden Hopkin, Lawrence Vincent and Anna Mooy-Braithwaite. Second round judges are professors Clayne Robison, Ruth Christensen and Vivien Robison. The last competition round judges are the University of Utah's Brady Allred and Carol Ann Allred and Utah State University professor Michael Ballam.
