BYU hosts String Chamber Night March 24

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents String Chamber Night Wednesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

Musical selections will include pieces by Sydney Hodkinson, Antonín Dvorák, Maurice Ravel, Zoltan Kodály, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich.

Students have been coached by Monte Belknap, Claudine Bigelow, Eric Hansen and Julie Bevan Reed.

Participating students include Cathryn Knoles, Kandis Bender, Erin Swenson, Shaundra Culatta, Kerry Maxwell, Sharon Meilstrup, Ashley Kunz, TawnaLyn Noyes, Jessica Ekstrom, Harmony Higgs, Sara Adams, Sara Black, Andrew Snow, Randy Slade, Mindy Davis, Yeagi Kim, Brian Clement, Andrew Clement, Katrina Feller, Carrie Rosevear, Angela Miller, Burke Sorenson, Seth Castleton, Jennie Hawkes Tilton, Suzy Luscher, Chad Frandsen, Katie Andersen, Kristen LaRiviere, Angie Richards Farnsworth and Kalo Latu.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.

BYU team helps create diagnostic tool that achieves accuracy of PCR tests with faster, simpler nanopore system

A new diagnostic tool developed by Brigham Young University and UC Santa Cruz researchers can test for SARS-CoV-2 and Zika virus with the same or better accuracy as high-precision PCR tests in a matter of hours.
