BYU hosts first Academic Success Week Sept. 14-17

The First Annual Academic Success Week will be held Monday through Thursday, Sept. 14-17, in Brigham Young University’s Wilkinson Student Center.

The week will feature daily informational and academic activities, lectures, workshops and competitions designed to help BYU students become familiar with academic services and resources at the university.

Phillip D. Rash, manager of BYU’s Career and Academic Success Center, said the event will also encourage students to gain and refine their learning skills.

The event is free, and students need only to show up to participate in most events; however, seating is limited. To participate in the competitions, students will need to sign up at the Career and Academic Success Center in 2590 WSC.

Daily events include a lecture, “Myths and Realities of Demanding Classes, With Particular Attention to Econ 110,” taught by economics professor Jim Kearl, stress and time management workshops and a Geography Bowl competition. A complete list of activities is available in 2590 WSC or at ccc.byu.edu/academic-success-center-home.

This event is sponsored by the Career and Academic Success Center, the Academic Support Office and the University Advisement Center.

For more information, contact Phillip D. Rash at (801) 422-6937 or phil_rash@byu.edu.
