BYU hosts 5th Annual BYUFOLKS Children’s Choir Festival Jan. 21

Featuring more than 400 children from area elementary schools

The Brigham Young University School of Music will host the 5th Annual BYUFOLKS Children’s Choir Festival Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle, 100 S. University Ave.

Tickets at $3 are available by calling (801) 422-4322 or visiting performances.byu.edu. Tickets will be available at the door.

The concert will include more than 400 children performing standard choral music from 13 local children’s choirs, which will perform separately and as a combined choir conducted by BYU graduate Kay Asay, conductor of the Utah Children’s Choir and first flutist in the Utah Valley Symphony.

The combined ensemble will include the Wasatch Concert Choir, Sunset View Singers, Rock Canyon Concert Choir, Spring Creek Concert Choir, Utah Children’s Choir, Edgemont Elementary School Choir, Westridge Elementary School Choir, Farrer Elementary School Choir, Canyon Crest Elementary School Choir, Timpanogos Academy Choir, Trailside Elementary School Choir, Grandview Elementary School Choir, Cherry Hill Elementary School Choir and the Provo District Youth Singers.

BYUFOLKS is BYU's student chapter of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators, a national professional organization for music teachers. Kodaly Educators are dedicated to enriching the quality of life through music and the philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly, a renowned 20th century composer, linguist, music educator and humanitarian.
