BYU to host popular "World of Dance" showcase Sept. 24-27

The Brigham Young University Dance Department will perform in its most popular annual concert, "World of Dance," Wednesday, Sept. 24, through Saturday, Sept. 27, in the de Jong Concert Hall on the BYU campus.

Shows start at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. Tickets for "World of Dance" may be purchased through the Harris Fine Arts Center Ticket Office, (801) 378-4322, or at www.byu.edu/hfac. All seats are $10.

"World of Dance" combines the talents of all of the university's dance companies, including Theatre Ballet, the International Folk Dance Ensemble and Dancers' Company as well as the award-winning Ballroom Dance Company and the Cougarettes.

Mark Baker, 25, a senior from Eugene, Ore., majoring in dance who is a member of the Ballroom Dance Company, wholeheartedly endorses the show.

"'World of Dance' is an incredible display of the talent BYU has to offer," Baker said.

Featured on the program will be selections of classical ballet, modern dance, theatre styles, ethnic dances and precision ballroom dances. In addition to performances by individual companies, the show will also include a number combining the talents of the Theatre Ballet and the International Folk Dance Ensemble.
