BYU to host Family Outreach Conference March 9

The Brigham Young University School of Family Life and the Family Life Education Institute will sponsor the 2007 Family Outreach Conference Friday, March 9, at the BYU Conference Center.

Participants can register for the conference online at familyoutreach.byu.edu, by calling (801) 422-8925 or by visiting the Harman Continuing Education Building lobby. Lunch will be provided for an additional fee, but participants must pay for the lunch by March 2. Attendees can also register to receive university credit for participating.

Designed to bring together those interested in strengthening families, the Family Outreach Conference will be a forum where attendees can learn ways to fulfill the principles of “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” a declaration issued in September 1995 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and encourage healthy families and marriages in their own communities.

The conference will be divided into a plenary panel, breakout sessions, demonstrations of existing family-strengthening efforts and how-to learning on a variety of topics.

Speakers will include Melanie Reese of the Utah Marriage Commission, marriage and parenting expert Wally Goddard, Aaron Larson of the National Healthy Marriage Institute, as well as Annette Barnes, Kevin Skinner and Bill Duncan, among others.

These experts will address such topics as “Inspiring Lasting Change for Families,” “Becoming a Social Entrepreneur: Do Good and Provide for Your Family” and “Following Your Gifts and Fire in Helping Families.”
