BYU honors Women's History Month with lectures March 31

In honor of Women's History Month, Brigham Young University will host a series of speakers Thursday, March 31, beginning at 11 a.m. in 1080 Harold B. Lee Library.

Ethlie Ann Vare, author of "Forgotten Women and Their Unforgettable Ideas," will open the session with a lecture on the significance of women throughout history, with specific attention to their inventions, such as the dishwasher, cordless phone, space suit, windshield wipers and numerous lifesaving medications.

At noon, a panel discussion will feature Laurie Wilson, a communications professor at BYU; Brittany Martin, a master of public administration student at BYU; Jennifer Boehme, executive director of Help International; and Barb Woodward, assistant executive director of the International Language Program. They will discuss "Bettering the World."

At 1 p.m. there will be a presentation by Rachel Murdock of the Women's Research Institute on "Serving Your Neighbors."

This event is sponsored by the BYU Women's Research Institute and Women's Services and Resources and is open to the public.
