BYU Hinckley Center inaugurates music, tour programs

The Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center at Brigham Young University is inaugurating an event called the "Hinckley Center Music at Midday," an informal music recital followed by tours of the new facility.

The first recital will be Friday, Oct. 12, at noon in the Hinckley Center and will feature a student performer who will also teach a little about the music, the composer and why he or she selected the piece.

The center is also introducing "Tunes and Tours," a regular Monday evening recital. The first one is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Both events are free, and the pubic is invited to attend.

"We want this building to be a welcome center for students, employees and the surrounding communities," said Linda Palmer, managing director of Alumni Relations. "Our hope is that, not only will this be a pleasant and uplifting cultural experience, but that it will also be educational. We also hope this will mark the beginning of a fine musical tradition in the Hinckley Center."
