BYU-Hawaii president to speak at BYU devotional May 26

Steven C. Wheelwright, president of Brigham Young University-Hawaii, will speak at a BYU devotional Tuesday, May 26, at 11:05 a.m. in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium.

The devotional will be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels. Visit byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu for rebroadcast and archive information.

Wheelwright, the Edsel Bryant Ford Professor of Business Administration, Emeritus at the Harvard Business School, was called by President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be the ninth president of BYU Hawaii in 2007.

He is a former senior associate dean of the Harvard Business School’s Master of Business Administration program, a Baker Foundation professor and senior associate dean and director of Harvard Business School’s publication activities. His research and experience have given him world-recognized expertise in solving complex managerial problems and foreseeing future business trends.

He has written several books with colleagues including, “Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation, 4th edition,” “Operations, Strategy, and Technology – Pursuing the Competitive Edge” and “Dynamic Manufacturing: Creating the Learning Organization.”

Following his retirement from Harvard, he and his wife, Margaret, presided over the London, England Mission of the Church, and then as service missionaries at BYU-Idaho. He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Utah, and master’s and doctoral degrees from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
