BYU Guitar Ensemble plans April 1 performance

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Guitar Ensemble in concert Thursday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. in 151 Tanner Building.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The concert, directed by School of Music faculty member Lawrence Green, will feature music by Georg Rist, Sylvius Leopold, Joseph Haydn, Jacques Ibert and Luigi Boccherini.

Green said the concert will be interesting because it will feature music not normally played on guitar.

"You'll get to hear guitars in a setting you normally wouldn't, because the classical guitar is so different from folk or rock," he said.

Performers include David Alleman, Jonathan Beckstead, Dan Erickson, Andrew Galvin, Aaron Monson and Taylor Turner. The concert will also feature Elizabeth Velez on flute.

For more information, contact Lawrence Green at (801) 422-3275.
