BYU Graduate Studies dean reappointed

BYU Academic Vice President, Brent W. Webb, has announced Dr. Wynn C. Stirling will be reappointed as dean of Graduate Studies at Brigham Young University.

Stirling has served as dean of Graduate Studies for five years and will continue in that role for an additional five years.

“The university has benefited from Dean Stirling’s thoughtful leadership in Graduate Studies, and I am pleased that he has responded positively to an invitation that he serve a second term,” Webb said.

Stirling has been a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department since 1984. His current research interests include multi-agent decision theory, estimation theory, information theory, and stochastic processes.

He received his bachelor’s degree with honors in mathematics and his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Utah and his doctorate degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Prior to his joining BYU, Stirling was responsible for the development of multi-vehicle trajectory reconstruction capabilities for ESL, Inc., in Sunnyvale, Calif. and was employed by Rockwell International Corporation.
