BYU Folk Dancers to appear at Mountain View High Feb. 10

The Performing Arts Company, the Brigham Young University International Folk Dance Ensemble touring team, will be appearing at the Mountain View High School Auditorium in Orem Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $5, and tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center Ticket Office, at (801) 422-7664, at artix.byu.edu or at the door.

Titled “The Gathering,” the show is the premiere performance of the group’s 10-day mid-semester tour, which this year will be to Southern California. It will be the last concert the Performing Arts Company will give in Utah Valley before its summer tour to Italy and France.

Concert-goers will see dances from the United States, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Canada, the Slovak Republic, India, Hungary, the Ukraine and Romania. The show includes dances that reflect the Mormon pioneers, a Scottish wedding and the comparison of a river to the idea of tradition.

Live musical accompaniments and special musical numbers will be performed by Mountain Strings, a folk music ensemble originating in the BYU School of Music.

For more information, contact Ed Austin at (801) 422-3384.
