BYU Fine Arts and Entertainment Calendar for Spring and Summer 2009

BYU Fine Arts and Entertainment Calendar for Spring and Summer 2009

At the BYU Museum of Art:

“Visions of the Southwest: From the Diane and Sam Stewart Art Collection,” portrays the colorful people and dramatic, unspoiled landscapes of the American Southwest. The exhibit runs through July 3, 2009.

“American Dreams: Selected Works from the Museum's Permanent Collection of American Art,” is an ongoing exhibition that examines artwork created by 18th, 19th and 20th century American artists as ideas or visions of America. This expanded exhibition of the museum's permanent American art collection is presented on both levels of the museum and includes prints, sculpture, photography and painting.

“Dan Steinhilber: Contemporary Art Exhibition” will be featured through May 16, 2009. Steinhilber creates sculptures and installations with familiar materials ranging from soda bottles, Styrofoam peanuts, duck sauce packets and drycleaner hangers to electric blowers, disposable containers, garage door openers and plastic tubes. His artwork explores light, for, social tensions and everyday experience.

Admission to all exhibits is free. New museum hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum will remain open until 9 p.m. on Thursday evening for lectures, exhibition openings and other educational programming. The museum’s Saturday hours will remain unchanged: opening at noon and closing at 5 p.m. For more information on exhibits and museum programs, visit arts.byu.edu.
