8 – The School of Music presents an Evening of Piano Concertos at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Admission to this event is free.
9 – Faculty artist Monte Belknap will present a violin performance at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Admission to this event is free.
10- Juilliard School graduate and Yale University adjust professor Robert Mealy will present a guest artist violin concert at 5:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. This event is free.
10 – Faculty artist and cellist Michelle Kesler will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.
12 – Orpheus Winds, BYU’s renowned faculty quintet, will have its winter semester performance at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. This event is free.
15, 17 and 19 – BYU’s top vocal students perform in three rounds of competition at Young Artists of Voice. The preliminary rounds will be Jan. 15 and 17, with the final round held Jan. 19. All three rounds will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Admission is free.
16-Feb 2 – Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” will start off the winter semester theatre season in the de Jong Concert Hall with evening performances at 7:30 and Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. There are no performances Sundays or Mondays. Directed by Tim Threlfall and featuring Andrew Lloyd Webber’s lush, romantic melodies, Broadway’s longest-running musical evokes the passion and drama of love lost and love found in 19th century Paris. A masked figure lurks beneath the opera house, striking fear into the hearts of all who inhabit it. When his love for an innocent young soprano forces the girl to make an impossible choice, she sets in motion a series of events that will change their lives forever.
24 – The BYU School of Music presents Music from Argentina at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. This event is free.
26 – MOVED: Guest artist Michael McQuay’s performance has been moved to Feb. 23, 2013.
30 – The Q’d Up Faculty Jazz Quintet, featuring Ray Smith, reeds; Ron Brough, percussion; Steve Lindeman, Keyboards; Jay Lawrence, percussion and Eric Hansen, bass, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Admission to this event is free.
31-Feb 2 – Dance in Concert presents “The Thing About Love,” featuring modren dance students from the Department of Dance at 7:30 p.m. in the Pardoe Theatre. There will also be a matinee performance Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m.
