The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Faculty Trombone Quartet recital featuring two guest artists Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The performance features guest artists Jim Nova and Rusty McKinney who will perform pieces from Dmitry Shostakovich, Sean O'Loughlin, Anton von Webern, David Sargent and Christian Asplund.

School of Music faculty members Mark Ammons and Will Kimball will both play tenor trombone along with Nova. McKinney will play the bass trombone.

He then moved to Boston to pursue his master's degree. While in Boston, Nova substituted regularly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra.

Nova is currently assistant principal trombonist with the Utah Symphony.

McKinney is the bass trombonist for the Utah Symphony and has held that position since 1989. He has played with a variety of orchestras including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D.C. and the Kennedy Center Orchestra.
