BYU Educator Preparation Program names Aaron Popham as first director

J. Aaron Popham has been named the first director of BYU's Educator Preparation Program.

Popham, who has worked in the BYU McKay of Education since 2000, will coordinate educator preparation among seven BYU colleges. Together these units prepare teachers in 27 majors and 23 minors and in three graduate programs. This change prompts a transition of responsibility for coordinating educator preparation from the McKay School of Education to the Educator Preparation Program.

"Aaron is uniquely qualified for this inaugural position, said Brad Neiger, associate academic vice president of undergraduate studies. "He has 15 years of experience with accreditation of educator preparation programs. He has valuable relationships with key state and national organizations. He will be very successful in this position."

The colleges with programs in the EPP include Family, Home and Social Sciences; Fine Arts and Communications; Fulton College of Engineering and Technology; Humanities; Life Sciences; the McKay School of Education and Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
