BYU Education in Zion exhibits posts November activities

Brigham Young University’s “Education in Zion” Exhibition, located on the second floor gallery of the Joseph F. Smith Building, will be hosting several activities and entertainment events for families and friends during November.

• On Monday, Nov. 16, the exhibition will host a Family Home Evening activity. Programs start every 30 minutes, beginning at 7 p.m. and running until 9 p.m. The Nov. 9 activity will focus on the early organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the perspective of significant people in Church history. Teachings about the School of the Elders and the expansion of the Book of Mormon around the globe will be presented Nov. 16. To sign up for a Family Home Evening program, participants should contact the exhibit’s Information Desk at (801) 422-6519. Drop-ins are also welcome.

• On Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., the exhibition will host an opening ceremony for “Clarity,” a new art exhibit that features creative interpretations of a faith-centered education and the concepts of light and truth. This exhibit highlights the work of BYU studio art students from Sunny Belliston Taylor's advanced studio course and their responses to the Education in Zion Exhibition.

• On Saturday, Nov. 28, the exhibition will sponsor a Thanksgiving program from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program features staff members wearing period dress and sharing stories from the past. To sign up for a tour, participants should contact the exhibit’s Information Desk at (801) 422-6519. Drop-ins are also welcome. The gallery closes at 2 p.m. that afternoon.
