BYU dean to argue "The Case for a Liberal Arts Education" in Sept. 7 lecture

John R. Rosenberg, dean of the College of Humanities at Brigham Young University, will deliver a lecture titled “Humanities+: The Case for a Liberal Arts Education” Wednesday, Sept. 7 at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Rosenberg was named dean of the College of Humanities in 2005, having served as associate dean and chair of the Spanish and Portuguese Department. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology and Spanish from BYU and a doctorate in Spanish literature from Cornell University. His "Intro to Hispanic Literature" course was named one of the 25 best world language courses at U.S. colleges and universities by the Educational Policy Improvement Center.

Rosenberg’s research focus has been 19th- and 20th-century Spanish literature, which has included travel to Spain more than 50 times to conduct research in the areas of Spanish literature and that literature’s connections with Spanish visual arts.
