BYU DancEnsemble to present "A Showcase of New Work" March 21-22

Brigham Young University’s Department of Dance will present “A Showcase of New Work” during the dancEnsemble winter concert Friday and Saturday, March 21-22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Richards Building Dance Studio Theatre. A special 2 p.m. matinee performance will be held on Saturday, March 22.

Tickets for the concert are $6 and available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 422-2981 or at byuarts.com/tickets.

Unlike other performing groups at BYU, the modern dance-based dancEnsemble focuses on original student and faculty choreography that provides a range of moods, emotions and ideas.

Performances include “The Tired Bones of Life” choreographed by Elise Marie Beers, “The Nature of Trust” choreographed by Mary Vance, “Our World” choreographed by Kaitlin Fayles, “By Means of Empathy” choreographed by Lacie Norton Scott, “Tipping Point” choreographed by Amy Gunter, “With New Eyes” choreographed by Mikayla Ellison, “In the Manner of” choreographed by Chelan McMurray and Michelle Zemp Leavitt, “Diabolus Moestitia (Devil’s Sorrow)” choreographed by Katy Crowley, “When Dolls Awake” choreographed by Charis Dexter, “What We’re Not Saying” choreographed by Bronte Hopkins and Rachel Kimball and “For Delynne” choreographed by Thomas Call.

Dancers include Thomas Call, Jonathan Fox, Emily Hardy, Natalie Howell, Amanda Larsen, Chelan Hollingsworth, Tessa Merrill, Aubree Monson, Nathan Mullen, Michael Romney, Erin Sheppard, Katy Crowley, Katherine Ledbetter, Kiki Hatch, Callie Parry, Natasha Peatross, Allie Sullivan, Jenny Thomsen, Michelle (Zemp) Leavitt, Jennifer Cowley, Charis Dexter, Bronte Hopkins, Danielle Ashby, Mikayla Ellison, Julianna Sheffield, Rachel Stott, Megan Barnes, Madeleine Homer, Brooklinn Hugie, Elise Beers, Carly Jo Bitner, Kaitlyn Fayles, Amy Gunter, Tessa Homer, Jessica Jackson, Lacie (Norton) Scott, Jon Fox, Mindy Michaels and Mary Vance.
