BYU Dance Department will present forum assembly Oct. 2

Award-winning dance teams from the Brigham Young University Department of Dance will present a dance performance assembly Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

BYU Television, KBYU TV and byubroadcasting.org will air the performance live. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

Performers will include the Ballroom Dance Company, the Dancers' Company, the International Folk Dance Ensemble, Theatre Ballet and the Cougarettes. Each group has received national and international recognition.

The Ballroom Dance Company has entertained audiences of all ages in its tours throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, South America, the South Pacific, Australia and the Far East. The Company is the undefeated U.S. formation champion and has won the prestigious British Formation Championships several times.

Since 1975, The Dancers’ Company has presented full artist-in-residency programs including major concerts, lectures, demonstrations and classes for all ages.

The International Folk Dance Ensemble’s broad repertoire includes choreography from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas. The team has circled the globe conducting workshops, performing concerts and appearing at international folk festivals where they represent the spirit of America's traditional music and dance.

The Theatre Ballet’s notable repertoire includes works ordinarily restricted to professional companies, such as full-length productions of “Coppélia” and “Romeo and Juliet,” as well as traditional classical pas de deux from works like “Don Quixote,” “Le Corsaire” and “Giselle.”

The seven-time College Dance Team National Champion Cougarettes is listed by “Dance Spirit” magazine as one of the top 25 dance teams in the nation.
