BYU Dance Department presents Ballet Showcase March 26-27

The Brigham Young University Department of Dance presents Ballet Showcase on Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 166 Richards Building.

A matinee performance will also be given Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m. Tickets at $5 are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 378-4322 or at www.byu.edu/hfac.

The program, directed by Shani Robison, will feature more than 30 members of the Theatre Ballet and Ballet Showcase companies. Audiences will be treated to classical, contemporary and character ballet pieces.

"I think people love seeing the many sides of ballet, and this is an opportunity to see a wide range of balletic styles," Robison said. "The performance will not only entertain the audience, but will also enrich their definition of ballet."

Performances will include dances choreographed by faculty members Marsha Russell and Suzi Wood, and students Sarah Franco and Kristi Brown.

The final piece will be the premiere of Robison's "Glimpses," a contemporary ballet piece that illustrates the effect of many personal relationships.

For more information on the Ballet Showcase, contact Shani Robison at (801) 422-4748.
