BYU Counseling and Career Center offers new debt workshop

A new workshop on debt and financial management will be offered by the Brigham Young University Counseling and Career Center Wednesday (April 9) at 10 a.m.

This workshop is an expansion of a course the center previously offered on financial management.

"The old workshop included information on debt, credit cards and loans, but seeing that this important topic could not be covered adequately in the financial management workshop, an entirely new workshop has been created, focusing more in-depth on these important matters," said Sharlet Doxey, Counseling and Career Center supervisor.

The center is structuring the workshop to meet students' needs.

"Students want to better understand debt, credit cards, loans and other things," Doxey said.

In addition to the workshop, the center also offers free certified financial advisors for all full-time students.

"Students can meet personally with the advisors and discuss any matters relating to their finances," Doxey said.

The new workshop will become a regular workshop offered by the Counseling and Career Center offers. Other ongoing workshops include interviewing, choosing a major and career and many others.

All workshops are in 2562 Ernest L. Wilkinson Student Center. To obtain a complete schedule or to make an appointment, contact the center at 422-2689 or access a calendar at www.byu.edu/ccc/calend.
