BYU community lends support to Virginia Tech

Brigham Young University students will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of the Virginia Tech community on Friday, April 20, from 8 to 9 p.m. on Brigham Square. Any members of the campus community who would like to show their support are invited. Candles will be provided.

A banner that people can sign with personal expressions will be available at the vigil and also all day Friday on the west end of the Terrace in the Wilkinson Student Center. The completed banner will be sent to Virginia Tech.

Earlier in the week President Cecil O. Samuelson sent a personal letter of condolence to President Charles Steger, and the prayer at the weekly devotional focused on those trying to recover from the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech.

The university encourages continued prayer on their behalf. Those who wish to donate funds to lend assistance to victims and their families are asked to do so through the official Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund at Virginia Tech and to avoid unprofessional or fraudulent donation attempts.
