BYU College of Nursing faculty members seek research participants

BYU College of Nursing faculty members Patricia Rushton and Gretchen Cornell are conducting research to study the period of adjustment of a widower after the death of his wife.

"There is little research concerning this period for widowers, as most of the research has involved widows," Rushton said. "We would like to gather more information with the hope that it will lead to some better methods of assisting widowers and their children to cope with this difficult time."

Rushton and Cornell are looking for widowers with adult children and would like to interview the widower and at least one of his adult children to gather their accounts of that period of time after the death of the wife.

Interviews will take approximately one hour and it is necessary for the widower and his children to participate, although interviews will take place separately at a time and place convenient for both individuals.

For additional questions or to participate, please contact Patricia Rushton at (801) 422-5375 or at Patricia_Rushton@byu.edu. You may also contact her on her digital pager at (801) 329-7425. After dialing the pager number, immediately enter your phone number. This pager will not accept verbal messages.
