BYU, Church Risk Management plan annual safety conference Aug. 10-12

The Annual Safety Conference, "The Power of Partnership" sponsored by BYU Risk Management and Safety and Church Risk Management, will be conducted Tuesday through Thursday, Aug.10-12. The conference is free to BYU and Church employees.

Tuesday's activities will be at the University Parkway Center in Provo. The conference will focus on six interactive general safety topics and six topics specific to academic areas offering assistance with safety compliance issues. There will be "door prizes" throughout the day and a barbecue at noon.

On Wednesday, the conference will move to the 26th floor of the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City.

Thursday's activities will include a tour of the Church Printing and Distribution Center and an afternoon of golf.

Registration is required. Visit the Web Site at http://safety.byu.edu, locate the heading "Safety Conference 2004" and click on registration will begin online to choose sessions and days you would like to attend. If you have questions or need additional information, please call ext. 2-4468. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to the Salt Lake City sessions.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
