BYU Bookstore VIP text buyback program offers benefits to members

This semester, the Brigham Young University Bookstore has implemented a new awards program for students who sell back textbooks purchased from the BYU Bookstore, including priority sellback times, prizes and more money back in their pockets.

Priority sellback day for VIP Textbook Members will be Saturday, Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is one day earlier than the rest of the student body, allowing VIP customers a greater chance of being able to sell back their books before the Bookstore’s quota is reached.

Also on Saturday, the Bookstore will give away more than 200 prizes, including iPods, t-shirts and coupons for 10 percent off one textbook for the next semester.

VIP members can sell back approved textbooks for 60 percent of the current retail price for the duration of the sellback. Those who are not VIP members will only be eligible to receive up to 50 percent of the current retail price and cannot sell their books back until Monday, Dec. 17.

To become a VIP customer, you must have your BYU ID swiped each time you purchase textbooks and again when you bring your books to the sellback. Those who swiped their BYU ID card when they purchased their textbooks at the beginning of this semester are automatically VIP customers for this semester’s sellback.

The rest of the student body may sell their books back Dec. 17 through Dec. 22. Two additional sellback locations will be open Dec. 17 through Dec. 20 at the Cannon Center in Helaman Halls and the multipurpose building in Wyview Park. For hours, see byubookstore.com.

Books are only eligible for sellback if they have been requested by an instructor for a future term, are not overstocked from prior terms, are the correct edition and are in good condition. A national wholesale price will be offered for books not needed for winter semester. The Bookstore cannot accept packets, workbooks or books with tear-out pages.
