BYU Bookstore, Lee Library host 2010 Christmas Booktalk Nov. 8

The BYU Bookstore is hosting its 2010 Annual Christmas Booktalk Monday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium. The event, co-sponsored by the BYU Farnsworth Juvenile Literature Library within the Lee Library, is free and open to the campus community and the public.

BYU Bookstore supervisor Anita Charles will be giving a first look at more than 60 recommended titles, such as a retelling of “The Nutcracker” and a book by BYU’s own Mike Tunnell called “Candy Bombers.”

“This booktalk is not just about books with a Christmas theme,” Charles said. “It is a look at books that we recommend for Christmas gifts and for curling up with to read away the cold winter months.”

Those in attendance will be introduced to the latest children’s book titles, hear short summaries of the works and have a chance to receive free copies. Coupons usable throughout the holiday season will also be given to attendees.

“My favorite aspect about this event is the enthusiasm of book lovers getting together and sharing loved titles,” Charles said.

Bookstore buyer Leon Archibald launched the booktalk — an event where authors and publishers discuss their titles with interested readers — in 1993.
